Perps Trading
Where Can I Trade Stock Perps?
Stock perpetuals provide long or short price exposure without share ownership. Learn where they trade and what to check before opening a position.

Liquid offers stock perpetuals on selected public companies through its non-custodial trading app. You can find the current listings in the Markets directory, including stock markets such as Nvidia and Tesla. Account eligibility, market status, and the available contract determine what you can trade.
A stock perp is a derivative: it gives you long or short exposure to a reference price. You do not receive shares, voting rights, or a claim on the company's assets. If your goal is to own a company, a stock brokerage and a perpetual trading app serve different purposes.
What Is a Stock Perpetual?
A stock perpetual has no scheduled expiry. You post collateral, choose a position, and realize a trading gain or loss when you close it. Funding payments and the venue's price methodology help connect the contract to its reference market.
Read the contract's unit size and quote convention to translate your order into dollar exposure. The venue's mark price is used to value the position for margin purposes, while the bid and ask show available trading prices.
Shares and stock perps answer different needs

| Feature | Ordinary share ownership | Stock perpetual |
|---|---|---|
| What you hold | An equity interest through your brokerage | A margined derivative position |
| Shareholder rights | Depend on the share class and holding arrangement | No shareholder rights from the perp |
| Duration | No contract expiry for the share | No scheduled expiry, but ongoing margin requirements |
| Holding costs | Brokerage and financing terms where applicable | Funding and route-specific charges |
| Trading hours | Exchange and broker session rules | Can extend through nights and weekends on supported markets |
The contract methodology explains how dividends, stock splits, and other corporate actions are reflected in the derivative. Review those terms when planning a position around a company event.
Where Can I Trade Stock Perps?
Start with Liquid's current stock listings, open the relevant market, and inspect the reference asset, venue, margin mode, and order ticket. Liquid's documentation describes an app connecting to multiple on-chain venues; the details can differ by route. The current product documentation explains that distinction.
Choose the instrument that matches your intended exposure. A share, option, dated future, and stock perpetual can all reference the same company, with different ownership, expiry, and margin arrangements.

Can I Trade a Stock Perp When the Exchange Is Closed?
Liquid's stock perpetual markets offer around-the-clock access, including outside the underlying stock exchange's regular session. You can express a view on company news at night or on a weekend while the share market is closed.
During an underlying-market closure, the derivative can reflect new information before regular share trading resumes. Its price can differ from the most recent cash-market price, so use the live bid, ask, and reference information when planning the order.
The 24/7 stock trading guide explains how this differs from brokerage extended hours.

- Identify the exact company, ticker, and contract. Similar labels can refer to different products.
- Read the live funding rate and execution fees.
- Choose a position size and margin allocation that fit your plan.
- Set take-profit and stop-loss levels, accounting for possible slippage.
