**You can trade futures 24/7 on Liquid through perpetual futures: contracts with no expiry date that you can open and close at any hour.** Liquid's crypto perps trade around the clock, including weekends and holidays, and its stock, index, commodity, FX, and pre-IPO perps are listed in the same non-custodial account. Hours for those non-crypto markets depend on the market and venue, so check the live status. Eligible markets offer multipliers of up to 50x.

Dated exchange futures are a separate product. CME now lists some crypto and metals futures seven days a week, but most dated contracts, including the major index, energy, and agricultural futures, follow Sunday-to-Friday sessions with daily breaks.

## Where can I trade futures 24/7?

There are two routes, and they suit different traders:

- **Perpetual futures on Liquid.** One account, 300+ markets, no contract months to roll. Crypto perps never close. Other listed perps can trade outside their underlying market's hours, subject to each market's status.
- **Dated futures through a futures broker.** CME's [24/7 trading page](https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/trade-crypto-energy-and-metals-24-7.html) lists cryptocurrency futures and options (excluding Spot-Quoted futures), plus 1-Ounce Gold and 100-Ounce Silver futures, as trading 24/7 with maintenance windows. You need a broker that carries those exact contracts.

If you want an always-on futures-style market across asset classes, a perpetual venue is the more direct answer. If you need a regulated exchange contract with a fixed settlement date, use a futures broker and confirm which contract months are open on weekends.

## How do the platforms compare?

## How do dated futures and perpetuals differ?

| | Dated future | Perpetual future |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Expiry | Fixed contract month; roll or settle | None; hold while margin allows |
| Holding cost | Basis to spot, priced into the contract | Funding payments between longs and shorts |
| Hours | Set by the exchange per product | Set by the venue per market; crypto perps 24/7 |
| Regulation | Exchange-listed, cleared through an FCM | Venue rules; not a CME contract |

The trade-off is simple. A dated future gives you a standardized exchange contract and a known settlement process. A perpetual gives you continuous access with no roll, paid for through [funding rates](/learn/what-are-funding-rates). Liquid does not offer CME futures. For more detail, see [futures vs. perpetual futures](/learn/futures-vs-perpetual-futures).

## What changes at night and on weekends?

Liquidity and spreads can change when the underlying market is closed. A stock or commodity perp trading on a Saturday has no live exchange price to anchor to, so its price reflects what traders are willing to pay until the cash market reopens. Size positions with that in mind, and use a stop-loss you would be comfortable with if the market gapped at Monday's open.
